  1. Hi Tressa! I agree with you that the Settlement Acts didn’t solve any of the conflicts between the Wabanaki and the state of Maine, if anything they made the conflicts worse by forgoing tribal sovereignty. I also liked how you mentioned the differences in agriculture between the Wabanaki and Europeans as the natives had more of a relationship with the land and treated the soil and crops as equals, however, the Europeans destroyed the soil with monoculture and did not understand the proper way to treat the land.

  2. Hi Tressa! I like how you brought up the differences between the Indigenous and European treatment of land and product use. Natives viewed their land and everything around them as sacred and only took what was needed and did not waste anything. Europeans always wanted more- more land, food, water, products, which threatened the Natives. Good job!
